Her doctoral dissertation, conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Peter Proksch, centered on the isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive secondary metabolites from Philippine marine sponges and soft corals. Her academic achievements during this period culminated in receiving the degree of Dr. rer. Nat with Magna cum Laude honors in June 1998.
