Constantine A. Stamatopoulos is a Greek civil engineer and internationally recognized expert in geotechnical and earthquake engineering, with over three decades of academic, research, and professional experience. He holds a PhD and two bachelor’s degrees in Civil Engineering and Mathematics, as well as an MSc in Civil Engineering, all from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he also conducted NSF-sponsored research and taught soil dynamics and theoretical soil mechanics. He has led Stamatopoulos and Associates Co. as major partner and later sole director, serving as principal-in-charge for more than large-scale geotechnical projects across Greece, including highways, railways, dams, pipelines, aeolian parks, and major buildings. Dr. Stamatopoulos has authored over peer-reviewed publications, several textbooks, and book chapters, coordinated and participated in major European and national research projects, and contributed extensively as a reviewer and academic instructor at the Hellenic Open University.
