Dr. Isabel Natalia Sierra García began her academic journey with a Bachelor's in Biology from the Industrial University of Santander in Colombia, where she conducted her undergraduate thesis on the antimicrobial and insecticidal activities of extracts produced by bacteria isolated from soil. She continued her education with a Master's in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of Campinas in Brazil, focusing on the structural and functional characterization of hydrocarbon degradation genes from microbial metagenomes derived from petroleum reservoirs. Subsequently, she pursued a Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the same institution, with her doctoral thesis investigating the microbiota and processes involved in petroleum degradation in oil reservoirs.

Dr. Sierra García has held various positions in academia and research institutions, showcasing a diverse and international research experience. She has served as a Research Associate at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, since June 2019, specializing in environmental microbiology. Additionally, she has worked as an Invited Auxiliary Professor at the Biology Department of the University of Aveiro since March 2021. Prior to this, she served as an Associate Professor at Unidades Tecnológicas de Santander in Colombia from January to June 2019. Dr. Sierra García has also been involved in research activities at the University of Campinas (Brazil), São Paulo State University, and Newcastle University (United Kingdom).

Driven by a passion for research and scientific exploration, he pursued further studies and completed his Ph.D. in Physics at Tsinghua University in 2009. These formative years laid the foundation for his future contributions to the field of pressure and vacuum metrology.

Since July 2009, Dr. Yang has been an integral part of the National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China, serving as a Researcher in the Pressure and Vacuum Lab. His commitment to advancing the field led to his appointment as the Head of the Pressure and Vacuum Lab at NIM in January 2018, a position he currently holds. His dedication to the field is further highlighted by his roles as a Guest Researcher at renowned institutions, including the Vacuum Group at PTB, Germany (July 2017 to October 2017), and the Sensor Science Division at NIST, USA (April 2015 to April 2016).
