Ms. Zakieh Taghizadeh Pirposhteh is a scholar specializing in public international law, biodiversity governance, and marine genetic resource regulation. She holds an LL.M. in International Contracts and Arbitration from the University of Fribourg (2024–2025), a UN–Nippon Fellowship in the Law of the Sea and Ocean Affairs (2014–2015), and earlier earned an LL.M. in Public International Law and an LL.B. in Legal Studies and Jurisprudence from Tehran, Iran. Her professional experience includes serving as a Legal Counselor at the United Nations Office in Geneva (2020–2022), Asia–Pacific Regional Coordinator at WIPO (2023–2024), and Research Associate at the University of Tehran (2015–2020). Her research interests focus on marine biodiversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction, benefit-sharing frameworks, digital sequence information disputes, human rights, intergenerational equity, and international ocean law.
