Assoc Prof Dr Jessica Anne Viveka Hemberg began her academic journey by obtaining a degree as a Public Health Nurse (PHN) and a Registered Nurse (RG) from The Swedish Polytechnic in Vaasa, completing both in 2003. She then pursued a Master of Healthcare (Msc) at Åbo Akademi University, specializing in Caring Science, and earned her degree in 2007. Her academic pursuits continued with a PhD in Health Sciences, majoring in Caring Science, at Åbo Akademi University, with the completion of her doctoral studies in Vaasa on May 8, 2015. Later, she achieved the title of Docent in Caring Science on October 15, 2019.

After completing her PhD, Assoc Prof Dr Hemberg took on various roles, including working full-time as a postgraduate researcher and part-time as a lecturer/teacher at the Centre for Lifelong Learning and the Open University at Åbo Akademi University from 2010 to 2014.
