Prof. Dr. Piotr Porwik is a full professor in the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Silesia in Katowice, specializing in engineering and technical sciences. He earned his M.Sc. in computer science from the University of Silesia in 1978, his Ph.D. in 1985, and completed his habilitation in 2006 at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
