Dr. Drs. Agus Nursalim, M.T., is a highly esteemed academic and researcher specializing in interior design. He is a professor at the Department of Art Education, Faculty of Arts and Design at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI). In addition to his academic role, he has been a Civil Engineering Consultant at PT MEGA POWER TEKNINDO in Jakarta since 2004. His industry experience includes roles as a Staff Planner at PT NATA PILAR PUSAKA and PT Hoemar Tjokrodiatmo in Jakarta and as a Kitchen Steward at Stamford Hotel in Sydney, Australia. His early career began as a planner at Studio Widagdo and Partners in Bandung.

Dr. Nursalim’s research focuses on the intersection of interior design and cultural studies. His work explores the creative responses of batik artisans to global market changes, the sociocultural dynamics of coastal communities, and the negotiation of women’s roles in traditional performances. Recent projects include:

  • Digital Marketing and Batik Export Acceleration: Investigating strategies to promote Indonesian batik during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Creative Responses of Batik Artisans in Cirebon: Studying how artisans adapt to global market trends.
  • Cultural Identity and Women’s Roles in Coastal Communities: Exploring the cultural construction of coastal societies.
