Early Academic Pursuits

Dr Nuria Naranjo Fernández's academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2014. Following her passion for environmental geology, she pursued a Master's degree in Environmental Geology, which she completed in 2015. Her educational trajectory culminated with a Ph.D. in Hydrogeology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2020.

Professional Endeavors

Dr Nuria's professional career spans seven years, showcasing a diverse range of roles and responsibilities. Notably, her experience as a Hydrogeologist at the Spanish Geological Survey involved hydrogeological modeling of the Doñana Aquifer, statistical treatment of large datasets, and contributions to multiple projects related to geological risk management.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center of Hydrogeology at the University of Málaga (CEHIUMA), Nuria is currently engaged in cutting-edge research. Her work involves estimating groundwater resources in headwater basins under natural conditions, utilizing advanced techniques such as InSar and modeling karst aquifers with the CFP package (ModelMuse).

Contributions and Research Focus

Dr Nuria has significantly contributed to the field of hydrogeology and groundwater management through her involvement in various projects. Her research publications in indexed journals cover topics such as wavelet analysis on groundwater and surface-water levels, groundwater level time series clustering, and spatio-temporal rainfall variability in the Doñana region.

Her work extends beyond traditional research, as evidenced by her role as a Board Member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists – Spanish Chapter since 2021. In this capacity, she has led social media management efforts, formulated strategic plans, and organized courses, showcasing her commitment to community engagement and knowledge dissemination.

Accolades and Recognition
