Prof. Dr. Christian Hengstenberg is Head of Cardiology and Chair of Internal Medicine II at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He earned his medical thesis at Julius-Maximilians-University Würzburg (1990), completed his Habilitation in Internal Medicine at the University of Regensburg , and became a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. His career includes clinical appointments at University Hospital Marburg, INSERM Paris, University Hospital Regensburg, Deutsches Herzzentrum München, the Medical University of Vienna. Prof. Hengstenberg’s clinical focus includes structural heart disease, interventional cardiology, and heart failure therapy. His research spans molecular genetics of coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, and cardiomyopathies, supported by EU, DFG, NIH, and private grants exceeding million. He has received numerous honors, including the Jan-Brod Prize, and actively contributes as an international reviewer for leading cardiology journals. He is a member of the German, Austrian, and European Societies of Cardiology, with a distinguished publication record in top-tier journals.
