🔬 Professional Experience

Since December 2023, Wei has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Padova. He has also held visiting scholar positions at the School of Aerospace Engineering, Tsinghua University, and the Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration. His work has been supported by prestigious grants, including the ERC CoR. NOFEAR project, where he conducted over 300 experiments to investigate the impact of physical conditions on rock friction and stability.

🌍 Research Interests

Wei Feng's research interests lie at the intersection of rock mechanics, earthquake science, and petroleum engineering. He is particularly focused on understanding the role of pore fluids and temperature in determining the frictional behavior of rocks, such as gabbro and basalt gouges. His work aims to enhance our understanding of the seismic cycle, exploring fault slip and healing processes under hydrothermal conditions. Additionally, Wei applies his expertise to the petroleum industry, developing innovative techniques for reservoir stimulation and enhanced oil recovery, including acid-etched fracture analysis and temporary plugging mechanisms.
