Prof Daniel Segal's academic journey began at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1974. He continued his education at the same institution, obtaining a Ph.D. in Genetics in 1980. His commitment to advancing his knowledge led him to Harvard University, where he pursued postdoctoral studies in Molecular Genetics from 1981 to 1984.

Following his postdoctoral research, Prof Segal joined the Weizmann Institute as a Scientist from 1984 to 1987. Throughout his career, he continued to climb the academic ladder, achieving the rank of Full Professor in the Department of Molecular Microbiology & Biotechnology at Tel-Aviv University in 2008.
