Dr. Hayley Williams is a Gamilaroi woman and Research Fellow at The University of Queensland with over a decade of experience in applied health psychology, trauma, and Indigenous health research. Her work focuses on improving social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB), post-traumatic growth, and access to culturally safe, trauma-informed care for people who have experienced traumatic injury or adversity, with a strong emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and families. Dr Williams holds a PhD from The University of Queensland and has led and contributed to major nationally funded projects supported by NHMRC and MRFF, including large-scale cohort studies and co-designed mental health and wellbeing initiatives. She is widely published in leading journals, actively translates research into practice, and provides leadership across multi-institutional research teams, advisory committees, and reconciliation initiatives. Her expertise spans Indigenous research methodologies, co-design, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and research implementation, and she is a sought-after speaker, educator, and mentor in Indigenous health, trauma recovery, and culturally responsive care.
