Dr. Guru Guruswamy holds a PhD from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University (GPA 6.0/6.0), where his thesis focused on Time Dependent Transonic Aeroelasticity of Airfoils. He also earned a Master’s in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (with Distinction), where his thesis centered on Finite Element-Based Analysis and Optimization of Suspension Bridges. Currently, Dr. Guruswamy serves as a Distinguished Ames Associate and consultant for the High Fidelity Simulation of Air Taxis, focusing on stability and control. He has spent over 35 years at NASA Ames Research Center as a Senior Scientist and Group Lead, specializing in High-Performance Computational Aeroelasticity. During this time, he led the development of groundbreaking programs like ENSAERO and HiMAP, and managed important projects in UCAV and AWS. He has also held key positions at Sterling Software Systems and U.S. Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory, where he contributed to advancements in aeroelastic applications for airfoils.

Dr. Guruswamy has an extensive academic background, having served as a Teaching Assistant at Purdue University, a Visiting Lecturer at Stanford University, and a PhD Thesis Advisor for graduate students at top universities such as Stanford, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech. Additionally, he has mentored numerous graduate research and co-op students at NASA, helping to shape the future of aerospace engineering.
