Prior to this, he was a Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) from 1995 to 2020, where he also served as Discipline Leader, Head of School, and Adjunct Professor. His tenure at QUT was marked by leadership in construction management education and research. From 1978 to 1995, Dr. Skitmore was with the University of Salford, advancing from Lecturer to Professor. He also served as a Senior Lecturer at Blackpool College of Technology & Art from 1975 to 1978. Before entering academia, he gained practical experience as a Quantity Surveyor, providing him with a robust foundation in the industry.
