Mr. Benoit Mauvieux is an Associate Professor in Sport Sciences and Chronobiology at the Faculty of Sport Sciences (STAPS), University of Caen Normandy, France, and a member of the VERTEX Research Unit. His research focuses on human performance and physiological adaptation in constrained and extreme environments, integrating chronobiology, thermophysiology, sleep science, and applied ergonomics through field-based experimental protocols. He works with ultra-endurance athletes and professionals such as firefighters, rescue divers, and industrial workers exposed to cold, heat, sleep deprivation, and circadian disruption. His recent work emphasizes afterdrop mechanisms and recovery following prolonged cold-water immersion, contributing to safety, performance, and prevention strategies in real-world conditions.
