Stamatis Kavasilis is an agronomist and soil expert with extensive experience in composting, soil classification, land use, and environmental impacts. He is currently a PhD candidate at Open University of Cyprus, focusing on producing acidic/neutral composts for circular economy in Mediterranean agro-livestock holdings. Stamatis is a member of the scientific staff at the Benaki Phytopathological Institute’s Laboratory of Non-Parasitic Diseases, Soil Resources, and Geoinformatics.


Stamatis Kavasilis graduated from the Department of Natural Resources Management and Agricultural Engineering at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), specializing in Soil Science and Agricultural Soil Chemistry. His academic journey equipped him with a deep understanding of soil management practices, focusing on sustainable agriculture and the application of soil resources.

Stamatis Kavasilis has accumulated extensive professional experience in agronomy and soil science. Currently serving as a scientific staff member at the Benaki Phytopathological Institute’s Laboratory of Non-Parasitic Diseases, Soil Resources, and Geoinformatics, he plays a pivotal role in researching composting methods, soil classification, and the sustainable management of agricultural resources. His career also includes significant contributions to research projects at both the Agricultural University of Athens and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he has been involved in national and European initiatives aimed at enhancing soil quality and environmental sustainability.
