🏢 Work Experience
Jack has had a distinguished career in academia and drama education. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor II at the School of Education and Languages, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, where he has been since July 2016. His role includes leading several undergraduate and master’s programs, such as the Bachelor of Language Studies with Honours [Applied Chinese Language Studies] and the Master of Education in Drama and Language Education. His responsibilities also extend to developing and coordinating various drama and language courses.
Before his current role, Jack worked as an Assistant Professor and Lecturer at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, and has held teaching and research positions at various institutions including QualiEd College and the Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute. His early career included roles in translation and editorial work with Oxford University Press and the Centre for Translation at HKBU.

Jack has contributed to the field of drama education through several part-time roles. He has lectured at the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education and the Master of Drama Education program offered by Griffith University and Hong Kong Art School. Additionally, he has served as a tutor and lecturer for Chung Ying Theatre and the B.A. in Humanities program at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Jack’s scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, such as “An Autoethnography of Teaching Drama to Student Teachers in Hong Kong” (2024) and “Facets of Human Conditions—Some Artistic Records and Ethnotheatrical Interpretations of Ex-gambling Addicts” (2023). He is also recognized for his major performing arts productions, including directing and playwrighting works like “My Sister’s Keeper” (2024) and “The Ugly Ducklings’ Taiwan Experience” (2023). His research includes funded projects like “Stage for Positive Ageing: Oral History Theatre by Older People” (2024-2026) and the “Jockey Club ‘Fun with Classical Chinese’ Drama Education Research Project” (2023-2025).
