Emmanuel Adesuyi is a dedicated and passionate academic in the nursing and healthcare profession. As a Doctoral Researcher and Lecturer at Birmingham City University, he combines his love for teaching with rigorous research in the field of nursing and midwifery education. He is committed to evidence-based teaching and the development of curricula that empower nursing and midwifery students. Emmanuel’s academic journey is driven by his goal of fostering continuous learning and contributing to global health through research and policy development.
Emmanuel is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing at Birmingham City University, with a focus on teaching and learning in digital spaces in nursing and midwifery education. His academic background includes a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria, and a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) degree. He has also completed postgraduate training in research practice and has received certification in leadership and teaching techniques for higher education.
Emmanuel has a diverse range of professional experiences. He currently holds a full-time position as a Doctoral Researcher and Lecturer at Birmingham City University, contributing to research and curriculum development. He has also worked as a Staff Nurse in various healthcare settings, including Thornbury Nursing Service, Leighton Hospital, and University College Hospital in Nigeria, where he provided patient care in orthopaedics, neurosurgery, and emergency departments.
Emmanuel’s research interests are focused on improving healthcare through education and policy. He is currently working on several projects, including exploring the effectiveness of nursing and midwifery curricula across the WHO-Afro region and studying the impact of digital spaces on teaching and learning. His ongoing research includes studies on HIV/AIDS medication adherence, childhood diarrhea management, and primary healthcare system determinants.
Emmanuel has been awarded several prestigious grants, including a research grant from the Phi Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Society, a fully funded fellowship in Global Nurse Leadership by the Global Nursing Leadership Institute, and a grant funded by the WHO and ICN for his project on standardizing nursing and midwifery education in the WHO-Afro region.
In addition to his academic and professional roles, Emmanuel is deeply committed to community service. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Nursing Research, Nigeria, a not-for-profit organization he co-founded in 2016. He has been instrumental in guiding nurses in their research endeavors, promoting evidence-based practices, and providing leadership in various community outreach projects.
Emmanuel actively engages with students at various levels, offering both guidance and expertise. He contributes to the teaching of nursing students across different stages of their education at Birmingham City University, including supervising research projects and leading practical and theoretical modules in nursing care.

Mr. Raikane James Seretlo is a distinguished lecturer in Public Health at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University.
